Assurance




The challenges and oppositions in life are often a hard reality. We wonder, 'God, will I make through this? How will I make through this?' so very often. It takes a leap of faith to restyle that thinking into 'Not with my strength or worldly wisdom but with your help alone, can I sail through in this storm.'

It takes two more leaps after one has wholly surrendered to God to say 'Thankyou Lord, because you are going to stand with me in this storm.' 
'Thankyou Lord, because you are going to provide or change my wants and desires.' 
'Thankyou for being in control because my vision has blurred with all the confusion - yet, you can see how beautifully well this will turn around.

And when that happens, I am going to see the glory of God working in me and realise that you do all the mending when the work within me is pending and I know that you will catch me and never let me fall.'

This great assurance builds me up. My spirit will not be weary nor my heart be heavy because you will make me stand strong.

 After not being able to tolerate the intense myalgia and unbearable pain, often my body quivers and shakes in confusion and my thoughts sink into an all-time low.   As I prepare my resume for another job and on LinkedIn see how friends and juniors have gone up the ladder and I can't hold onto a single wrung, forget ever working like the smart girl I used to be, I feel huge waves of sorrow come up and engulf me. Powerful yet loving Shepherd.

Isn't it worth noting that Isaiah prophesied during the pre-Christ era that God (Messiah) will come in power with great might and then he switches the tone and idea of the message that he will gather his flock like a shepherd?? What is the connection, is there a contradiction here? 💭 Indeed that is what the Mighty God of the heavens gave the highest priority on his agenda. War, end of the other powers and his kingdom was yet to come - but before that He thought it important that his elect be chosen and lead with gentleness, godliness and great love. You and I stand a chance before that Great and Mighty God only because of his everlasting kindness and love. Like a shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep(John 10) he know us so well and cares for us to the point of sacrificing his own self that we will be saved.
